Tenor soloist
Jonathon Hampton sings an American praise song accompanied by the
Pacific Boychoir in their opening performance. Cue/Nicky Dorrington
Quotes:Some vibrant singing of American Spirituals turned the recital by
the Pacific Boychoir from a competently produced concert into a really
worthwhile choral performance.
Inspired gospel-styled singing from choir and soloist in Wade in the Water, and an evocatively shaped I’ve been in the Storm so Long, showed the measure of this choir’s excellence.
...in the following item, City Called Heaven, they delivered a passionate performance of character and verve. Here the young soloist’s perfectly inflected bended tones caught the
essence of the style with remarkable maturity. The programme ended with
an intricate arrangement of Elijah Rock where their control
over chromatic harmonies were intoned with perfect intonation and the
polyphonic and rhythmic complexities were handled with aplomb.
