Jonathon Hampton performs as an alto, tenor and bass in sacred and secular music. Classically trained and influenced by the Gospel and Blues music of his native Chicago, Hampton's voice resonates with the passion and power of his ancestral roots, resulting in exceptional beauty and unique presence. Twenty years of performing experience has afforded him an extraordinary vocal range of nearly four octaves and a wealth of rhythmic and stylistic versatility. Hampton has performed with choirs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and he has recorded two albums and toured internationally as a featured soloist with the Grammy Award-winning Pacific Boychoir. Now a resident of New York, he performs with several ensembles and is a conductor and music educator. His recent solo performances includes several solo recitals of traditional African-American spirituals, a recording of the new chamber opera, Brother Brother, performances of Purcell's The Fairy Queen with Big Apple Baroque, and concerts at Carnegie Hall with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Hampton graduated from Cornell University in 2004 where he studied Business and Music.
